Varner heads to Interra from Kruggel Lawton

Goshen-based Interra Credit Union has appointed Michael Varner as vice president, commercial banking development officer.

In his new role at Interra, Varner will focus on leveraging his background in accounting and tax planning to help local businesses, while fostering relationships that serve members and strengthen communities.

Varner’s career spans over 30 years in public accounting, including his tenure at Kruggel, Lawton & Company, where he joined in 2005 and was elected partner in 2007. Among his accomplishments, Varner created and led the firm’s annual CFO Summit, an event that provides continuing education and networking opportunities for CPAs in private industry.

Varner earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Bridgewater College in Virginia. He is also a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Indiana.

Varner serves on the board of Stable Grounds in Middlebury and is a member of Goshen Noon Kiwanis. He participates in organizations such as the American Institute of CPAs and the Indiana CPA Society.

“Community means investing in people and creating opportunities for growth,” Varner said in a press release. “I’m excited to continue serving and making a positive impact alongside Interra.”

Interra Credit Union was chartered in 1932. Its field of membership spans 24 counties in northern Indiana, serving nearly 90,000 members. Interra currently operates 16 offices in Elkhart, LaGrange, Kosciusko, Marshall and Noble counties.
