MACU offers scholarships

Michigan City-based Members Advantage Credit Union has announced the acceptance of applications for its annual Leona Bruno and Gail Walker scholarships.

The scholarships are open to high school seniors and students in their first or second year of college who are part of the MACU family.

“Every time we support a local student, we strengthen the fabric of our community,” said Frank Beachnau, MACU president, in a press release. “Education gives young people a real chance to build the future they imagine, and we are grateful for the opportunity to stand beside them. These scholarships help lift some of the financial weight so students can focus on learning and growing into the leaders our communities will rely on.”

The Leona Bruno Scholarship was established in 1994 to honor the credit union’s first manager. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior who demonstrates academic achievement.

The Gail Walker Scholarship was created in 2010 in memory of a dedicated MACU board member. The $1,000 scholarship is available to high school seniors or first- and second-year college students who show strong scholastic performance.

Applications for both scholarships must be submitted by March 6. Learn more here.
