Credit union to host shred day

Members Advantage Credit Union is hosting its annual community shred day June 28 at the Ohio Street branch in Michigan City.

The event provides community members with a way to dispose of confidential documents. A mobile shredding truck will be on-site to destroy paper documents.

MACU has partnered with the Michigan City Salvation Army and will match up to $250 for all cash donations collected throughout the event. A $3 donation is encouraged to participate in the event. In-kind donations are also welcome.

“We're excited to offer shred day again this year to help our members and neighbors protect their personal information while supporting responsible disposal,” said Frank Beachnau, Members Advantage Credit Union president, in a press release. “It's just one of the many ways MACU gives back to the community we proudly serve.”

Shred day is a first-come, first-served event that runs until the truck is full or until noon. There is a limit of three boxes or bags per customer. Items that can be shredded include:

• Tax information & returns

• Investment records & statements

• Insurance, utility bills, etc.

• ATM & credit card receipts

• Paycheck stubs

• Bank statements

• Cancelled checks

• Personal documents

• Credit card statements

The event will take place 9 a.m. to noon June 28 at Members Advantage Credit Union's branch at 3064 Ohio St., Michigan City.
