1st Source Bank names successors to retiring leaders

1st Source Bank is carefully planning the retirement of several key leaders. Ready to transition, these leaders already have replacements who will learn and take over during a staggered succession approach.

Larry Mayers, Ron Zeltwanger and Bill Burton will retire over several months in 2026, while top performers Shelli Workman, Daniel Conroy, Sean Kearns, Jim Martindale and Todd Obren will be promoted come Feb. 1.

“We are pleased to see Shelli, Danny, Sean, Jim and Todd step into these roles, ensuring that we continue to deliver on our mission of helping our clients achieve security, build wealth and realize their dreams,” said Andrea Short, CEO and president of 1st Source Corp. and CEO of 1st Source Bank, in a press release.

The bank identified these successors during a focused succession planning process.

“The bank takes seriously our strategy of growing from within, focusing on high-performing individuals who live our mission and share our values of community leadership, outstanding client service, superior quality, teamwork and integrity,” Short said.

The promotions will include:

  • Shelli Workman to group head of business banking, starting at 1st Source in 2012
  • Daniel Conroy to group head of personal banking, working at 1st Source for 19 years
  • Sean Kearns to east region president, starting at 1st Source in 2003 as a business banker
  • Jim Martindale to central region president, starting at 1st Source in 2020 as a commercial relationship manager
  • Todd Obren to the bank's first regional president of the Michigan region, starting at the bank in 2021

“Sean, Jim, and Todd’s dedication to our culture and values show as they perform their current roles with excellence,” said Kevin Murphy, president of 1st Source Bank.

The retirements will take place on a staggered schedule:

  • Larry Mayers, group head of business banking will retire April 10 after 19 years of service
  • Ron Zeltwanger, group head of community banking, will retire May 31 after 25 years of service
  • Bill Burton, east region president, will retire June 30 after 34 years of dedicated service

“It is rewarding to see the longevity of our colleagues’ careers,” Short said. “The leadership team is excited to celebrate with Larry, Ron and Bill in the coming months, as their legacies have been woven into the fabric of this bank.”
