Mishawaka officer honored

EMS Officer Bill Conyers has been named the 2025 Indiana EMS Officer of the Year by the Indiana Fire Chief’s Association.

Conyers was recognized and presented with the award at the IFCA Awards Banquet Sept. 17.

Conyers has over 40 years of EMS experience.  As the lead instructor for Mishawaka Fire Department’s EMT classes, Conyers has shaped the foundation of EMS education for countless members of the Mishawaka Fire Department.

Beyond teaching, Conyers’ leadership extends to the fire department’s operations. He works to refine protocols, guide medics on scene and mentor the next generation of EMS leaders.

“Bill doesn’t just show up—he shows the way,” Conyers’ nomination reads. “His work ethic is tireless, his compassion is genuine and his legacy is undeniable. In a profession where consistency, excellence and heart make all the difference, Bill Conyers is exactly the kind of leader this award was created to honor.”

The Mishawaka Fire Department congratulated Conyers on the recognition and thanked him for his continued service to the department and community.
