La Porte airport celebrates solar array

The La Porte Municipal Airport recently commemorated their new solar array with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

In its first year, the solar array will generate 70,000 kWh, or $12,425 in utility cost savings, and avoid 61.7 metric tons of CO2 emissions. Over a 20-year span, it is projected to save 1.33 million kWh, totaling over $370,500 in energy cost reductions.

The airport advanced its solar initiative through a partnership with Veregy. Arizona-based Veregy provides engineering and construction services designed to reduce energy and operating costs through the implementation of energy efficiency and infrastructure upgrades.

La Porte Municipal Airport is a general aviation airport. It is home to 75 private and corporate aircraft. La Porte Municipal Airport was founded in 1945.
