Entrepreneurs compete in Starke Tank

Local entrepreneurs recently pitched their business ideas at Starke Tank, a competition hosted by the Starke County Chamber of Commerce.

The Starke Tank event featured a business pitch competition and small business expo. The competition was open to start-up businesses that commenced business operations less than three years ago and new businesses that are not yet operational.

Seven local entrepreneurs participated in the pitch competition, which took place inside the North Judson-San Pierre High School Performing Arts Center. They competed for seed money to establish, grow or expand their business in Starke County.

“It was an inspiring evening full of entrepreneurial energy and big ideas for the future of our county,” the Starke County Chamber of Commerce said.

Smart Choice Disposal took first place, with judges noting the strong business model and confident presentation. Smart Choice Disposal plans to offer weekly trash pickup services for the Knox/North Judson area.

Hamlet-based Tubby Buddy’s Parlor & Boutique took second place, with judges praising its creativity and community-focused vision. Tubby Buddy’s offers pet supplies and grooming services.

The Starke Tank pitch competition is an annual event presented by the Starke County Economic Development Foundation.
