The South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership is hosting its autumn WE+YOU Student Immersion Experience Oct. 24 to 25 across the South Bend – Elkhart region.
The multi-day initiative aims to attract talent and showcase all the region has to offer. It brings college students from around the Midwest to experience life in the South Bend – Elkhart region.
Students will kick off the event at the Greater Elkhart Young Professionals’ Intrigue, Inspire, IGNITE Elkhart County Dinner. They will have the opportunity to network with the community’s young leaders.
Next, students will head to Four Winds Field for a behind the scenes tour of the ballpark. They can learn about internship opportunities and community resources from Alicia Einfalt and Andrew Wiand of enFocus, Cat Edmonds from the University of Notre Dame and Connect574 and Kate Lee from the South Bend Regional Chamber.
The group plans to visit Barletta Boats in Bristol. Students can tour the pontoon boat manufacturer, gaining a firsthand perspective on the industry and career opportunities.
Students will also stop in Mishawaka for a coffee break and a walk downtown. They will eat lunch at the Carnegie event space with a panel of regional leaders. Leaders will include Mishawaka Mayor Dave Woods, Jeff Jarnecke of Visit South Bend Mishawaka, Amanda Ecklebarger of the Elkhart Convention and Visitors Bureau and Willow Wetherall of Downtown South Bend.
The experience will wrap up with the Regional Company Showcase at the IDEA Center at the University of Notre Dame. Representatives plan to pitch internship and career opportunities. Organizations will include 1st Source Bank, Abonmarche, Barletta Boats, Beacon Health, enFocus, Hoosier Tire and Tire Rack.
Participants include students from Andrews University, DePauw University, Holy Cross College, Indiana University South Bend, Marian University’s Ancilla College, Purdue University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Trine University, University of Notre Dame and Western Michigan University.
The South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership seeks to unify and collaborate so that communities across the region can work collectively. The partnership is comprised of economic development partners from 47 communities in northern Indiana and southwest Michigan. The South Bend-Elkhart Regional Partnership was formed in 2011.
