Indiana University South Bend will offer free STEM focused camps and workshops this summer for students and teachers.
The workshops are funded by a Labs for Industry Futures and Transformation Initiative grant and the South Bend-Elkhart Regional Partnership.
The STEM Summer Academy is a five-day camp for 7th through 10th grade students. It will introduce them to problem solving, computational thinking, programming, coding, app development, AI, virtual augmented reality and cybersecurity through hands-on activities.
Students who complete the camp will receive a programmable Sphero-mini robot. The camps will be offered June 9-13 or June 23-27. Lunch will be provided.
A two-day K-12 Teacher Workshop will introduce teachers to computer science, informatics and interactive media arts. No prior programming or computer science experience is required.
The teacher workshops are offered 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 5-6 or June 16-17. Breakfast and lunch are provided. Participants will receive a certificate and a programmable robot.
