Chamber celebrates minority businesses

The Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce recently honored the innovation, dedication and community impact of minority businesses.

The chamber’s Celebration of Minority Business Excellence dinner took place Nov. 6, at The Lerner Theatre in Elkhart. The annual event recognizes the outstanding achievements of minority-owned businesses that help drive opportunity and growth throughout the community. Attendees celebrated this year’s seven honorees across several categories.

Honorees included:

  • Communications: Oliver Pettis, Black Lion Cinematography
  • Community Impact/Service: Robert Taylor
  • Construction and Skilled Trades: XML Construction
  • Emerging Entrepreneur: Angela Hernandez, Bright and Shiny Cleaning Services
  • Health care: Jessica Aguilar
  • Nonprofit Leadership: DaVonne Kramer, Regality
  • Retail/Restaurant: Kao’s

More than an awards ceremony, the event offered a welcoming space for networking, collaboration and inspiration. Attendees connected with industry leaders, community advocates and peers who share a commitment to progress and inclusion.
