Polygon Composites Technology in Walkerton hired Alex Duffy to lead the supplier of engineered composites into its next phase.
Duffy's most recent position was chief operating officer of several repair divisions at Burke America, a wholesale parts distributor, in Chicago.
“Alex brings a strong background in operating leadership, manufacturing, technology and commercial growth,” according to Polygon's LinkedIn page. “We’re excited for this next chapter and the perspective he brings to Polygon.”
Duffy also worked for McKinsey & Co. and served in the Navy for more than eight years.
Polygon was founded more than 70 years ago as Plas/Steel, and made recreational products like fishing poles and canoes. In the 1980s, the family-owned company transitioned to the next generation and to composites for industrial uses. In the 1990s, medical device tubing was added to the product line. In 2018, Lacy Diversified Industries bought Polygon. It is family-owned too.
