Beacon Health System hires chief of oncology

Dr. Anas Al-Janadi will take on the joint role as Beacon Health System's first chief of oncology and associate director for clinical and community research at the University of Notre Dame.

The position is part of a multiyear research initiative between Beacon Health and the university. Al-Janadi was hired after a national search and will start June 29.

“Dr. Al-Janadi stood out for his clinical vision, collaborative leadership and deep commitment to bringing research and innovation directly to patients,” said Mark Brett, chief operating officer at Beacon Health System in a press release. “We are excited about what his arrival means for our teams, our oncology program and the communities we serve.”

Al-Janadi most recently was chair of the department of cancer care services at Corewell Health in Michigan. He also has 30 years of clinical experience as a hematologist and medical oncologist.

His collaboration with Notre Dame will include research, and expanded clinical trials and new treatments.

“My gratitude runs deep for the trust placed in me, for the mission-driven culture you've built, and for the opportunity to serve patients and families at such a pivotal moment in cancer care,” he said. “I'm energized by the talent, compassion and innovation already thriving within these organizations.

“Together, I'm confident we will elevate our programs, expand access to leading-edge therapies and continue delivering the kind of care that changes lives.”
