BTX Precision acquired South Bend's Maitland Engineering, which machines metals into small components.
Maitland joins BTX as a new business unit, among other companies acquired by the private equity manufacturing platform.
“The addition of Maitland aligns directly with BTX’s strategy of building a platform focused on the most technically demanding areas of the supply chain,” said Rick McIntyre, BTX Precision’s Group CEO, in a press release. “Maitland’s expertise in precision grinding and Swiss CNC machining strengthens our ability to deliver small, complex components with exceptional quality and consistency.”
Maitland will retain its current leadership team and remain at 2713 Foundation Drive in South Bend.
“Joining BTX Precision represents an exciting next chapter for our team,” said Scott Cripe, owner and president of Maitland Engineering. “We share a commitment to operational excellence, disciplined growth and delivering consistent value to customers, and we look forward to leveraging the capabilities and best practices across the BTX platform.”
Maitland serves the medical and aerospace industries, among others. It provides finishing and assembly processes that include titanium, cobalt, stainless steel, aluminum and engineered plastics.
BTX was formed in early 2024 to serve as an umbrella company for three businesses: ERA Industries in Chicago, Gen El Mec Associates in Oxford, Connecticut and I3D Manufacturing in Redmond, Oregon. BTX employs more than 1,150 people in its business units that occupy more than 700,000 square feet of manufacturing space in 13 cities.
Details about the sale were not disclosed.
