Kuert Concrete lauded for work on hospital tower

The Beacon Memorial Hospital tower project was no easy feat for the construction companies that built it. That's part of the reason Kuert Concrete based in South Bend and two other companies received the Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association 2025 Healthcare Award.

The 11-story tower was built while the hospital remained open, leaving little room for staging of materials and equipment.

“Working in an active hospital environment requires a high level of teamwork and precision,” said John Montgomery of Kuert Concrete in a press release. “From long pump distances to night placements, every pour had to be executed with patient care and safety as the top priority.”

Kuert Concrete provided the concrete, about 10,00 cubic yards of it pumped up to 300 feet on the upper floors.

“Health care facilities demand construction solutions that are dependable and carefully executed,” said IRMCA Executive Director Chad Montgomery. “This project highlights how concrete producers and contractors work together to deliver critical infrastructure that supports patient care and serves the community for decades.”

The project is scheduled for completion in August, for a total of three years.

Other companies on the team include general contractor the Walsh Group and concrete finisher Hagerman Construction.
