The City of Mishawaka made a significant commitment to the Mishawaka Building Trades Program.
The city donated four lots for Mishawaka High School students to build homes on. The school district is only 8 square miles, so finding land to allow students hands-on learning was difficult. The school's building trades program pairs students with industry professionals to construct single-family homes.
โWe are grateful to our mayor and the City of Mishawaka for their continued commitment and dedication to our program,โ said Ben Modlin, head of Mishawaka High Schoolโs industrial technology department and treasurer of the Mishawaka Building Trades Program, according to the STARTedUp Foundation.
The city dubbed the development the Mishawaka Building Trades subdivision.
The Mishawaka Building Trades Program has been helping students learn about careers in construction since 1979.
