Saint Joseph Health System Foundation received a $10,000 donation from Comcast to update technology for pediatric patients in Mishawaka.
The donation will support updating the technology and entertainment options Saint Joseph Health System provides to young patients in Mishawaka.
“Integrating gaming systems and smart TVs into pediatric hospital rooms enhances the comfort and emotional well-being of young patients by providing engaging, age-appropriate entertainment and a sense of normalcy during their hospital stay,” said Lindsey Lawrence, Saint Joseph Health System nurse manager of NICU and pediatrics, in a press release. “These technologies offer distraction from pain and anxiety and empower children with a sense of control over their environment—contributing to a more positive and healing hospital experience.”
Congressman Rudy Yakym expressed gratitude for Comcast’s commitment to supporting children and families in the community.
“Investments like this bring comfort and joy to young patients during difficult times, and as a father of three, I know there is nothing more meaningful than seeing a child smile,” Yakym said.
Comcast's donation is part of Project UP, the company's $1 billion commitment to advance digital opportunity. Over the past three years, Comcast has made over $3 million in cash and in-kind donations to Indiana nonprofits.
“Comcast believes in the power of technology to bring joy and help improve lives,” Grace Hong Duffin, regional vice president of external and government affairs for Comcast’s Greater Chicago Region, said. “We are beyond proud to partner with the Saint Joseph Health System Foundation to enhance the entertainment capabilities for their pediatric patients.”
