The Icy & Spicy Wing Competition is coming to Shipshewana Jan. 17.
The wing sauce competition will take place 4 to 7 p.m. downtown at the Smokehouse Grills & Supply store on Morton Street. Several stores will have extended hours.
The competition takes place the evening before the town's annual Ice Festival. The festival will feature ice carving and a chili cook-off.
Attendees who purchase a ticket gain entrance to the wing competition and receive eight chicken wings. Attendees who purchase an Ice Festival pin can join the Wing Sauce Competition Friday night and Chili Cook-Off Tasting Saturday, along with accessing more than 35 store specials.
The Chili Cook-Off will start 11 a.m. Jan. 18. Attendees can sample a variety of chilis, talk to cooks, confer with fellow judges and cast a vote for the best chili.
This marks the 18th year for the Shipshewana Ice Festival. Ice carvers drill and shave blocks of ice throughout town. The creations they design are submitted by the sponsor or are the carver’s choice. The carving process begins 10 a.m. Jan. 17 and continues through Jan. 18.
