IU enrollment grows

Indiana University South Bend’s enrollment growth has continued for its third straight year.

The total number of students enrolled for the fall 2025 semester at IU South Bend is 4,716, an increase of nearly 2% over last year.

These figures demonstrate a trend of ongoing growth for IU South Bend. There was a 4% increase in enrollment in 2024, after a spike in 2023, which marked the first year-over-year increase in 14 years.

First-generation students comprise over 32% of the student population and grew by over 3% from the previous year.

Online program enrollment is up nearly 17% for undergraduate students and about 19% for graduate students.

The Honors Program, designated for students with a focus on academic excellence and community service, has a total of 462 students enrolled.

There are 130 student veterans enrolled this fall. IU South Bend has been awarded the Military Friendly designation each year since 2021.

Over 88% of students are from Indiana, with nearly 81% from the North Central Indiana region. Overall, IU South Bend students hail from 38 states and 67 countries.

IU’s official fall census day for this academic school year was Sept. 1.
