The Michigan City Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the opening of South Shore Public Relations’ new location with a ribbon cutting Aug. 21.
The firm’s new office is at 517 Franklin St. in Michigan City.
Founded by Jackie Thomas in 2023, South Shore Public Relations serves nonprofits, small businesses, Northwest Indiana enterprises and larger businesses. Thomas has two decades of experience in the optical, technology, public affairs, infrastructure and nonprofit sectors. She provided crisis management for the Professional Convention Management Association during the early pandemic and lead North American communications for a global optical company.
Thomas earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communications from Purdue University. She serves on multiple boards, including the Public Relations Society of America Chicago Chapter, Michigan City Chamber of Commerce and Dunebrook.
Thomas was named a Woman on the Rise by Purdue Northwest’s Society of Innovators in 2024 and was nominated as Marketer of the Year by the Northwest Indiana Women’s Association in 2024 and 2025.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place 5 p.m. Aug. 21. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the new space and meet the team.
