Elkhart Chamber to host OSHA breakfast

The Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce is hosting an OSHA breakfast Feb. 19 with Gabe Cornelius of the U.S. Department of Labor.  

Cornelius is from the federal Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division office in South Bend. He will address numerous topics, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Temporary Worker Programs, Wage Garnishment provisions, overtime and piece rate compensation. Cornelius will also speak about differentiating between an employee and an independent contractor.

The event is open to all Greater Elkhart Chamber members. The breakfast will take place 7:30 a.m. Feb. 19 at the Matterhorn Conference Center in Elkhart. The registration deadline is Feb. 14.

The Greater Elkhart Chamber’s OSHA Council aims to promote safety and health in the workplace through a professional forum and networking. The council conducts monthly breakfast meetings. The OSHA Council works to inform members of actual and proposed changes in OSHA regulations and legislation at the national and state levels.
