Goodwill Industries of Michiana celebrated the opening of its new Elkhart campus with a ribbon cutting March 19.
Speakers slated for the event included Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson and Goodwill President and CEO Debie Coble. Representatives from the Goodwill Michiana board of directors, Goodwill Industries International, the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce and 1st Source Bank were on hand for the ceremony.
Serving as a new location for services, Goodwill’s Elkhart campus will house multiple community programs under one roof. The programs will include the Nurse Family Partnership, Excel Center, The Academy, Ability First and Second Chance. The facility also includes space for community use and training rooms.
Goodwill partnered with the City of Elkhart and Heart City Health to transform the space as part of the city’s economic development diversification plan.
“We’re thrilled to help enhance the quality of life, social services and economic opportunities in the neighborhood, and we’re grateful to be a partner in building a stronger community,” Coble said in a press release.
Goodwill’s free community programs are made possible by donors and shoppers at Goodwill’s retail stores throughout North Central and Northwest Indiana, and in Niles, Michigan.
The new campus is at 154 West Hively Ave. in Elkhart.
Goodwill Industries of Michiana serves 16 Indiana counties. The organization operates 24 retail locations, along with charter high schools for adults and a maternal-child health program. Goodwill Industries of Michiana also operates a career and technical training academy and offers workforce development programs.
