rScan based in South Bend has had a whirlwind few years as it launched its resale app. It capped off that effort by winning the Startup of the Year during the 2025 Mira Awards gala Feb. 27 at the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel.
The company also won the 2023 Crossroads Collegiate Pitch Competition hosted by The Mill in Bloomington. rScan's product is an app that simplifies the process of reselling returned goods bought online.
Rod Baradaran, rScan co-founder, accepted the Mira Award on behalf of his team.
“Startups thrive on energy, and we’ve been fueled by the incredible support from this community,” he said on his LinkedIn page. “Huge thanks to TechPoint for putting together such an inspiring event and to everyone who has supported us on this journey.”
Indianapolis-based TechPoint honored 20 technology-based organizations and people during the 26th annual gala. Judges chose winners from 221 submissions. More than 1,500 people attended the gala.
“Indiana’s tech ecosystem is growing deeper and more innovative every year,” said TechPoint President and CEO Ting Gootee in a press release. “It’s always a difficult decision, choosing among the state’s wide array of promising leaders and innovators, and this year was no exception. It’s inspiring to be in the room with this group.”
The rScan platform integrates with major retailers like Amazon, eBay and Walmart. After confirming its validity with strategic partners, rScan's revenue goal is $2 million. If all goes to plan, the company plans to expand its South Bend headquarters and hire 152 more employees.
In 2024, it earned $1.2 million in conditional state job creation tax credit incentives.
Another regional winner was IronWorkz based in Gary. It earned the Community Impact Award. Find the full list of 2025 Mira Award winners here.
