Lighthouse Autism Center in Mishawaka expanded its team as part of its Lighthouse Fusion program.
The program includes three new dually certified clinicians, along with another on staff, for a total of four. The staff members are certified speech language pathologists and board-certified behavior analysts. Two other speech language pathologists are set to complete their dual certification in the fall.
“We are thrilled to expand our team of dually certified BCBAs and SLPs as part of Lighthouse’s Fusion program,” said Ashley Whitaker, director of speech at Lighthouse Autism Center, in a press release. “These clinicians truly embody Lighthouse’s clinical model of bringing compassionate care and clinical excellence. Through our innovative approach to speech, we are seeing children who previously were unable to communicate learn new modes of communication in as little as one co-treat session. It’s truly amazing see to see how this model enriches the overall experience of our learners.”
The Fusion program offers a comprehensive approach to speech therapy and daily applied behavior analysis therapy sessions. Other highlights of the program include co-treat sessions that bring specialists together to treat a child.
Parents of children with autism founded Lighthouse in 2012. It now has centers in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska.
