Horizon Education Alliance and CareerWise Elkhart County are hosting a business recruitment event Oct. 24.
The event will showcase youth apprenticeship opportunities. The apprenticeships meet career-readiness requisites and strengthen talent pipelines for local businesses.
Since its inception in 2019, CareerWise Elkhart County, under Horizon Education Alliance’s umbrella, has expanded their apprenticeship program. Programs include advanced manufacturing, construction, business operations, financial services, culinary arts, education, health care, IT and law. CareerWise acts as an intermediary to support students and businesses from the recruitment process through the completion of the program.
The recruitment event will provide local businesses with the opportunity to hear stories from participating students. They can learn from regional business partners who currently utilize the apprenticeship pipeline. Businesses can also gain insights from educators and counselors about the benefits of the program.
Youth Apprentice Advantage: Empower and Employ Elkhart County will take place 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at Ivy Tech Community College in Goshen. Learn more here.
The event aims to foster collaboration among educational institutions and local businesses. Levon Johnson, Greater Elkhart Chamber president and CEO, encourages local businesses to attend.
“In order to continue to grow and strengthen our workforce and encourage talent to stay local, it is imperative that industry leaders come to the table to support these engagements,” Johnson said.
