Blue Chip announces holiday tree winners

Michigan City-based Blue Chip Casino Hotel Spa announced the winners of its Trees of Hope holiday tree competition.

During the contest, guests voted for their favorite holiday tree decorated by participating local charities.

This year’s winners include:

  • 1st place: Michiana Humane Society – $3,000
  • 2nd place: Orak Shriners – $2,000
  • 3rd place: La Porte County Meals on Wheels – $1,500
  • Honorable mention: Independent Cat Society – $1,000
  • Honorable mention: The Jack & Shirley Lubeznik Center for the Arts – $1,000

Guests were able to vote online or in person once a day for their favorite tree. Social media votes, in combination with on-property guest votes, determined the winners.

Trees of Hope is a fundraising decorating competition held at Boyd Gaming properties, like Blue Chip Casino, across the country. Local nonprofits are invited to decorate holiday trees. The decorations can represent the charity’s mission or simply be festive. The campaign aims to support nonprofit organizations in the communities Boyd Gaming’s casinos serve.

Trees of Hope is an annual competition. In 2023, Blue Chip Casino’s winners included Special Olympics La Porte County, Save the Dunes Conservation Fund and Nest Community Shelter. La Porte County Habitat for Humanity and The Social and Learning Institute received honorable mentions.
