Goshen-based Ryan’s Place will host a groundbreaking ceremony Oct. 10 for their new Home for Healing Hearts.
The Home for Healing Hearts will house Ryan’s Place’s offices and programs. The new 18,000-square-foot building will provide space for the grief support programs Ryan’s Place offers. The organization aims to provide a nurturing environment for children, teens and families in need.
“It will provide a dedicated space for grieving families to heal and ensure we can continue offering our vital services for years to come,” said Aileać Deegan, Ryan’s Place president, in a press release. “It represents our ongoing commitment to providing hope and healing, ensuring that every child, teen and family who walks through our doors feels seen, supported and empowered in their grief journey.”
The Home for Healing Hearts will feature an art room, a tornado “high energy” room, a hospital room and a music therapy and theater room for grief support programs. The facility will be designed to maximize natural daylight and create an atmosphere that feels like a home rather than an office building. Additional areas will include comfortable meeting spaces and a central gathering area.
“The Home for Healing Hearts will be a lasting symbol of our commitment to the community,” Deegan said. “This new space will allow us to reach even more grieving children, teens and families, ensuring that no one has to navigate their grief journey alone.”
The groundbreaking event will take place 4 p.m. Oct. 10 at 1566 Regent St. in Goshen. Community members are invited to attend.
Ryan’s Place is named in honor of Ryan Gleim, who died in 1992 at the age of 20. Ryan’s parents were able to find a support group for themselves, but not for Ryan’s younger brother. Ryan’s Place was founded in 2002 to provide children, teens and adults with a supportive environment to share their grief experiences. Ryan’s Place serves over 1,000 individuals each year.
